Bringing home the gold
The Floating Hospital’s short video, “Keeping Families Afloat” recently won a gold Telly Award. The video was created as the centerpiece in a digital ad campaign we ran last year. Winning in the craft category—among the most competitive of all categories—the animated short competed with the upper echelon of those who are at the very top of the chosen area of expertise. The Telly Awards receives more than 12,000 entries from all 50 states and five continents. The video was created by New York City-based ad agency, Fresh Branding Group. Script was written by the agency principal (and owner), Jeff Linder. Animation, direction and production was done by the legendary John Semerad under the company he owns with his daughter, Lily Rose.
A friend indeed to those in need
Working with the child-focused Loukoumi Make a Difference Foundation, Floating Hospital friend and supporter Chef Maria Loi has created a program to raise $50K for the teaching kitchen in our new clinic. Known for her humanitarian work as much as for her delicious Greek cuisine, Chef Loi is working with the Floating Hospital on fundraising initiatives. Her new PBS series, “The Life of Loi,” reveals the secrets of the healthy (and delicious) Mediterranean lifestyle. The Loukoumi foundation has generously supported the kitchen with the purchase of an oven and range.
Decolonizing Mental Health
The PBS series, “Decolonizing Mental Health,” launched his month with Dr. Igda Martinez, the Floating Hospital’s director of behavioral health, appearing in two segments. Dr. Martinez talks about the particular challenges of BIPOC patients, within the envelope of also dealing with homelessness. The 20-episode series is on your local PBS station.
Catch of the Day
We went fishing and caught us a walrus! After a months-long search, the Floating Hospital selected the Walrus agency as its creative partner for ad and awareness campaigns. Eight agencies responded positively to our RFP (request for proposals) and Walrus was chosen for its strength in three vital areas: creative, strategy and media capabilities. Its clients include HBO (“Veep”), the History Channel, restaurant brands, health-focused packaged goods and office superstore Staples. Walrus was named Best Small Agency of the Year (Northeast region) by Ad Age in 2020.
