Trained childbirth assistance for expectant families

We are thrilled to announce a new partnership with the Citywide Doula Initiative, a transformative program designed to support expectant parents through childbirth and beyond. This partnership is part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive care and support to families during one of their most important times of their lives.

What is the Doula Initiative?

The Doula Initiative offers free doula services to expectant mothers and families in New York City. Doulas are trained professionals who provide continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to the mother before, during and shortly after childbirth. This program is made possible through our collaboration with the Citywide Doula Initiative, which ensures that every family has the support they need for a positive and empowering birth experience.

What is a doula?

A doula is a professional, trained childbirth assistant who provides non-medical support during pregnancy, labor, childbirth, and after birth.

A doula’s presence offers a level of care and compassion that complements your medical care. They focus on your emotional and physical comfort throughout the birthing process. Doulas don’t replace medical providers but work alongside them to ensure your birthing experience meets your values and preferences.

How will a doula help me?

A doula will provide you with physical and emotional support during labor and the birth of your child. They’ll offer tips for making labor more comfortable. As your advocate, they’ll help you get the information you need and navigate confusing situations.

A doula can help with breastfeeding and newborn care. They can also monitor your and your baby’s health and well-being during the post-birth recovery period.
