Growing and Changing to Meet the Needs of our Patients

2024-11-26T17:25:12-05:00

This year was one of adaptation and expansion for The Floating Hospital and its patients. We celebrated clinic openings, a new men’s health program and our first ever TCS New York City Marathon team. We also inaugurated a new day camp for Spanish-speaking teens that replicated our sleep-away camp’s first-year curriculum.

The Hands on Deck: Lana Stanarevic

2024-10-24T17:15:58-04:00

If you want to know something about the administrative side of the organization or really anything at all about the hospital, Lana Stanarevic has the answer or knows how to find it, fast. That partially stems from her primary job as the hospital president’s assistant,  a position that requires her to be part of the nerve center of the organization, but it also comes from the many other hats she dons on any given day.

Domestic Violence Awareness Month

2024-10-24T14:51:40-04:00

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and while our supporters are aware of the impact of domestic violence on many of our patients’ lives, there is still so much to learn about its prevalence and its repercussions, both across the nation and within our own city.

The Floating Hospital's most recent collaboration with another charity is also one of its most synergistic. In May, Good+Foundation gave us significant donations of essential items for the families we serve, making a profound impact on their lives.

Karen Solano: In the Long Run

2024-11-26T17:49:29-05:00

When she arrived from Mexico in 2017, Karen Solano’s family had been separated for almost six years. At the airport, her father brought along her oldest brother and a videographer to meet her, her mother and two of her brothers. Time had moved slowly for the family and he wanted to capture those first moments when they were finally together again.

Camp Is on the Horizon

2024-06-25T15:39:27-04:00

For six years, The Floating Hospital’s Camp Rise Up has provided teens living in temporary housing a week of respite from the city and their often turbulent lives. Research shows that unhoused teens are at greater risk of unhealthy behaviors, and the camp, for ages 12 to 15, provides an opportunity to learn about themselves, test their capabilities and see hope in their future.
