As New York City families prepare for school next month, The Floating Hospital hosted its Annual Back-to-School FunFest, where summer campers were treated to lunch and a puppet and pet show, and went home with free helmets, backpacks, books and toys.
Kicking things off, the City Parks Foundation of New York City presented an exciting and entertaining puppet show for families arriving at the Queensbridge Park event. From there, volunteers from Citigroup led the campers to pick up book and book bags donated from partner organizations United Healthcare, Wellcare Pharmacy, and Queens Library.
After lunch, our Summer Interns set up lawn games and kids savored sorbet provided by HealthFirst, received free dental screenings from Healthplex Dental Insurance, and learned about fire safety thanks to the New York City Fire Department.
Wrapping things up, Petland Discounts provided a live animal show with exotic animals from around the world.
The Floating Hospital would like to thank our amazing Community Outreach team—Cynthia Davis and Stephanie Fernandez, our incredible volunteers and Summer Interns, and everyone else who came out for this annual event!
