Adolescents at Risk
The Floating Hospital has been awarded a fully-funded performance-based contract for 24/7 medical and dental services by the Administration for Children’s Services (ACS), the New York City agency responsible for providing detention, prevention, and aftercare services for youths (ages 8-17) remanded to its custody by the family court system.
Alleged juvenile offenders are detained in secure and non-secure sites that offer Department of Education schools and varied recreation programs. The Floating Hospital program provides an estimated 4,500 teens annually with quality medical and dental care. Our program also addresses the hygiene, nutrition, exercise, and substance abuse issues that could change their future. No private funding is used for this program.
