Let the good news roll! The Floating Hospital was featured on Good Day New York’s “Hero of the Day” segment Jan. 18 for its Good Health Shuttle fleet of passenger vans that provides free shelter-to-clinic transportation for families living in temporary housing. The shuttle eliminates barriers to accessing care by ensuring patients make their medical appointments. The program recently received grant support from the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation and the Pfizer Foundation, both of whom aim to promote healthcare equities for medically underserved populations. We thank them and our dedicated staff of drivers for helping our patient families get to the doctor, safely, securely and with dignity.
Candy Cane Lane: a sweet treat for our patient families
In the 15th edition of Candy Cane Lane, our annual holiday event for patients, 175 families visited the clinic, after it was transformed into a wonderland of gifts for four days in December. An estimated 1,200 patients were able to visit the event and select toys, seasonal clothing and nightwear, personal-care items and other essentials and niceties. The value of donations received was at a high of nearly $322,000. We could not have done this without the generous support of our staff and our community of friends and donors, and we thank you all for helping brighten the holidays for those in need.
Thanks to all who contributed to our year-end Annual Appeal, which will support our new community and vaccination center, programming such as nutrition and life skills, and vital clinical practices such as eye care and infectious disease care. If you didn’t yet the opportunity to give your support, donations can still be made at thefloatinghospital.org/donate.
