Since its inception in 1866 as NYC’s first pediatric clinic dedicated to helping the poor, The Floating Hospital has been providing an essential health care safety net for the City’s most vulnerable families. Today, our TFH Family Health Network provides over 57,000 patient visits annually - serving homeless mothers and children from shelters and domestic violence safe houses located in all five boroughs.
TFH FAMILY HEALTH NETWORK
- TFH never refuses necessary treatment for a homeless family because they are unable to pay.
- Free transportation is offered to our network of full-service clinics by a “fleet” of TFH passenger vans to ensure that patients receive the full range of primary care medical,
dental and mental health services they need.
- We also assist families with obtaining the mandatory immunizations and often missing or non-existent health record documentation required for school enrollment and
to access available job training and benefits programs.
Our comprehensive health care services include:
- Primary Care Medicine: Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric
- State-of-the-Art Pediatric and Adult Primary Care Dental Services
- Mental Health Services including Assessment and Counseling
- “Well Woman” Exams and Preventive Screenings
- Immunizations, Vision and Hearing Screenings
- Screenings for Lead, Cancer, TB and other Infectious Diseases
- HIV Testing and Counseling
- Substance Abuse Counseling
- Follow-up treatment and referrals for specialty / emergency care
